Abrado Group: Two Softwares Failed Before This One
Abrado Group, Navi Mumbai: Two Softwares Failed Before This One. The Founder on What Changed for 75 People
By Miss. Nutan Mandal, ElevatorPlus ·
In short: Abrado Group installs customised home lifts across India and completes ten years in the business this December. Around 75 people, 100 plus with contractors, technical teams in Kerala, Goa, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Delhi, and a head office in Seawoods, Navi Mumbai, from which installation and sales are run. Before ElevatorPlus the company bought a standard software its team would not use, then spent about a year and a half building its own, which did not work either. What its founder, Mr. Aby Mathew, says changed is specific: the technicians' attendance marking and daily work reports, which used to be the hardest thing in the company to manage, are now captured on the system. This page is his account, in his words, from a recording made in November 2026.
Key takeaways
- Custom work, many sites, one office. Customised home lifts from Manali and Darjeeling to Kerala, run from Navi Mumbai with technical teams in five states.
- Two failed attempts first. A purchased software the team was not comfortable with, then roughly a year and a half of building their own.
- The decider was understanding, not features. "I understood the person understand the problem of elevator industry and the people like ours."
- The biggest change was the technicians. Attendance marking to daily work report, captured on the system.
- Training was on site, twice. Two offline sessions; "from the attendance, maintaining till operations, team was well trained to operate."

The company
Abrado Group is a customised home lift company. Not standard passenger lifts, not AMC-led service on other makers' units: home lifts built to the house, installed across the country. Mr. Aby Mathew founded it and it completes ten years in December 2026.
| Fact | As stated on the recording |
|---|---|
| Business | Customised home lifts, across India |
| Years | Ten, completing December 2026 |
| People | Around 75 plus; 100 plus including contractors |
| Technical teams | Kerala, Goa, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Delhi |
| Head office | Seawoods, Navi Mumbai; installation and sales run from here |
| Reach | Installations from Manali and Darjeeling to Kerala |
Custom work with teams in five states is a particular kind of hard. Every installation is different, the technicians are far from the office, and the office has to know what each of them did today.
The two softwares that failed
Mr. Mathew is direct about this, and declines to name either.
"Before ElevatorPlus, I have tried couple of softwares. I don't want to name here. The team was not at all comfortable using it. There was a standard software which we have purchased, but that didn't work. It was not comfortable. Then we spent almost one and a half year developing a software, but that didn't work."
Two attempts, two different failure modes. The purchased one failed on the technician's side: the team would not use it. The built one failed on time: eighteen months, and nothing the company could run on. Both are the patterns we see most often, and both are the subject of The Day-One Test: if the app is slower than paper on day one, the team will not open it, however good the plan.
Why this one
A friend introduced him to ElevatorPlus. What decided it was the presentation, and specifically whether the person giving it understood a customised home lift company.
"After seeing the presentation, I understood the person understand the problem of elevator industry and the people like ours, because we are into customised home elevator. So there are a lot of challenges which he has completely understood. He and his team has understood and completely given a customised software which made our life more easy."
"Customised software" is his phrase. What he is describing, in our terms, is a system set up around how Abrado works: their installation stages, their technicians' reporting, their office. That setup is what onboarding is for, and what the first weeks of it look like is in Elevator Software Onboarding: The First 45 Days.
Training and support
Asked whether the two offline training sessions made a difference:
"Yes, the team's training, which is appreciable. They came and understand the problems, spent time with their teams, made them understand how to operate the system, how to maintain the system. Every detailing, team came and given the proper training to the people. And today, from the attendance, maintaining till operations, team was well trained to operate."
On support for teams outside Mumbai:
"Our major teams are from Mumbai only. So whatever training and support, we take care in Mumbai itself. Whenever we need, Mr. Sumeet, just a call away. And the entire team, the respond time, I'll say it is immediate."

What changed ?
Asked which department benefited most:
"The most challenging was managing the technicians and their reporting. And today, by using ElevatorPlus, from their attendance marking till their daily work report, which is captured by the ElevatorPlus."
And after one year:
"After the one year, if I see, every area of my challenges has almost captured by ElevatorPlus."
That is the whole case in two sentences, and it is the same shape as the opening of his recording: "It was very challenging to manage the team, manage the installation, manage the sales, and being into a customised home elevator, it was really challenging. After ElevatorPlus, they captured all the problems, they have captured all the requirements and introduced the software. Today the operation becomes very smooth."
In his words

Asked what he would tell another lift company:
"No doubt. Definitely, I already started introducing to people. And I have seen, after my introduction, people started to take an account with ElevatorPlus. Now I'm definitely going to introduce more friends to ElevatorPlus for sure. And I'll say this is one of the problem solutions for the elevator industry."
What we learned from Abrado ?
Two things, both worth saying plainly.
First, a company that has already failed twice at software is a better-prepared buyer than one that has never tried. Mr. Mathew knew exactly what had gone wrong: the team's comfort, and time. He judged the third attempt on those two things, which is the right test.
Second, the department that benefits most is rarely the one the owner expected to buy for. Abrado's hardest problem was not sales or installation planning; it was knowing what 75 people did today. Attendance marking and the daily work report, captured on the phone, were the change he names first. If you are choosing software now, the question to ask about any vendor is in the Elevator Software Scorecard: question 6, a visit closed on the app with no signal, and question 7, the app in the technician's language.
How ElevatorPlus handled it ?
Technicians mark attendance and file the daily work report from the phone app; the office sees both as they come in. Two on-site training sessions, by role, and support on WhatsApp, 9 AM to 9 PM, with replies in minutes, which is what "just a call away" refers to. Installation stages and sales run from the Navi Mumbai office on the admin panel. Nothing here is described beyond what the client states on the recording.
